Dear Backers,

Thank you for your patience. We hear you loud and clear, and will be ramping up our community engagement and giving you updates more frequently as large shipments keep going out. In keeping with our spirit of transparency, we’ll explain the silence behind the shipping.

1. Shipping Update

We expected manufacturing to be the final big challenge, but it turns out that supply chain and logistics has its own hurdles and obstacles, from performing due diligence on warehouses, vetting logistics partners, and sorting out the details of shipping to over 80 different countries with different laws and regulations for importing (e.g customs). We are not selling simple products with one or two variations, nearly every order has a unique combination of parts, so we needed high quality warehousing and packers who can pay attention to complex invoices. To get the ball rolling, we rolled up our sleeves and did the first shipments ourselves. We still plan to meet our shipping schedule. The first batches went out as promised. We could write a book about what we've dealt with in China but that's not what you're here for.

Here we receive hundreds of bare Trinus machines.

After putting pressure on our suppliers to get all our add-ons to us on schedule, we finally have our warehouse ready and stocked to fulfill every kind of order and our team is going all-in on pack and ship. All our office staff and even our CEO have had their turns at the warehouse. We've tripled our manpower and now have dedicated staff to pack your boxes. Our initial trickle of shipments is turning into a torrent, and we are now shipping hundreds of boxes weekly. About one third of backer orders have gone out. Following our early batches to Asia, dozens of pallets are already on their way to the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom and the European Union via our logistics partners. A lot of thought went into previous batches such as order complexity, components available at the time of packaging, shipping costs, input from our logistics partners, and much more.

A finished pallet sees the light of day as it embarks on its voyage to the other side of the world.
A finished pallet sees the light of day as it embarks on its voyage to the other side of the world.

It has been a long journey to get to this point, and each stage brings new challenges. Nobody said that building a leading 3D printer company would be easy, and we go the extra mile by spending all day in the warehouse ensuring quality and accuracy, then go to the office at night and on weekends to work towards the future of our brand. Trinus is just the start.

2. Community Engagement

We've gotten a lot of feedback concerning regular updates, so we are shifting our engagement to Facebook and our new forum http://kodama3d.com/forum . Our beta testers John and Phil are moderators. This allows everyone on our staff to regularly chat and update you, and is a good base for all you creatives who've already received your printers to share what you've made and learned. We want to go beyond Kickstarter updates to active dialogue and community building. We’re encouraging everyone on our team to be active on the forum, so you'll get to know the humans behind your machine. If you have questions or need support, please start by asking in the forum you’re more likely to get a quick answer there.

We look forward to talking to you on our forum.
